Silage Services
We are able to offer full field to clamp silage services for grasses, wholecrop or maize crops. Our harvester is fitted with a V-Max cylinder capable of infinately variable chop lengths from 5-53mm. The onboard moisture meter also allows us to chop the crop through a range, actively cutting dryer material shorter to help with packing, and wetter material longer to help ensiling. This is done constantly and automatically by the machine while chopping. Gps yeild mapping is also carried out automatically by the machine to help you get the most out of your land. For maize crops we run everything through a shredlage processor. This is a special type of corn processor which has counter-directional helical grooves This chops up the cob fragments completely and crushes the kernels to split them thoroughly. In addition, the stalk fragments are also shredded longitudinally into strings and their bark layer is peeled thanks to the special surface of the rollers. Varius university trials have shown this unique way of conditioning corn silage significantly boosts the output of dairy cows over traditional corn crackers.
To minimise groud compaction and aid in wet conditions we use tractors and dedicated silage trailers fitted with oversize flotation tires rather than trucks or wagons. The use of large compactor trailers specifically designed for silage is also that we can fit a large volume of materal in fewer loads, ducing the nuber of machines and operators required and thu reding the time and cost. Push of and dump trailers also allow for quick unloading on the farm, but for those wishing to bag or blow into a silo we also have a dump deck. This allows us to unload into baggers and blowers without the usual time lost during unloading.
